JSL Health Capital ("JSL") is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms within our operations and supply chains.
JSL recognizes that modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labor, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and implementing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chains.
As a venture capital firm, JSL has a relatively limited direct supply chain but recognizes our responsibility to address modern slavery risks through our vendor relationships and, importantly, through our influence as investors in portfolio companies.
JSL's direct supply chain primarily consists of:
We assess the modern slavery risk in our direct supply chain as relatively low given our focus on professional services providers. However, we recognize that risks may exist in extended supply chains, particularly in technology hardware, hospitality services, and facilities management.
JSL implements the following measures to assess and mitigate modern slavery risks in our supply chain:
Vendor Screening: All new vendors are subject to our standard vendor assessment process, which includes evaluation of their labor practices and modern slavery policies where applicable.
Contractual Obligations: We include contractual provisions requiring vendors to comply with all applicable laws and to maintain appropriate policies and procedures to prevent improper business practices.
Ongoing Monitoring: We conduct periodic reviews of key vendor relationships and require vendors to notify us of any material changes to their operations.
Geographic Risk Assessment: While our vendors are unlikely to operate in or source from higher-risk jurisdictions as identified by recognized modern slavery risk indices, for any new vendors, we would apply additional due diligence.
